Service & emergencies

Are you available 24 hours?

Yes – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. Call (205) 426-1310 for backups, overflowing tanks and alarms at any hour.

Sewage is backing up into my house. What should I do?

Stop using water – no laundry, dishwasher, showers or flushing. Keep children and pets away from the sewage and call us right away. Do not open the septic tank yourself.

How soon can you get to me?

It depends on where you are and what else is happening that day – around Bessemer and McCalla it is often the same day. When you call, we give you an honest arrival time.

Do I need to be home when you come?

It helps – we can show you the tank and answer your questions. If you can’t be there, tell us when you call and we will work it out with you.

What should I ask before hiring a septic company?

Ask whether they pump both compartments, whether they check the baffles and lines while the tank is open, whether you get the price before the work starts and whether they are licensed in Alabama. Recent Google reviews from your area help too.

Do you work for businesses?

Yes – restaurants, shops, churches, offices and rental properties, including grease traps and commercial septic tanks.

Prices & payment

How much does septic tank pumping cost?

It depends on the size of the tank, how deep it is buried and how easy it is to reach, and how far we drive – part of the price is the safe transport and disposal of the waste. You get the price before we start.

What makes a pumping cost more?

A tank that has to be found and dug up, a very deep tank, a tank under a deck or patio, or a tank that has not been pumped in many years. A riser at ground level makes future pumpings quicker.

How much does a new septic system cost?

It depends on the permit, the soil, the size of the tank and the length of the field lines. We visit the site and give you an upfront price for the whole job.

Do you charge more at night and on weekends?

After-hours emergency visits can cost more than a weekday appointment. You always hear the price first.

Which payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards. Ask us about other options when you call.

Septic care & repairs

How often should my septic tank be pumped?

Every 3 to 5 years for most homes – sooner with a big household, a small tank or a garbage disposal.

How long does a septic system last?

Anywhere from 15 to 40 years. Regular pumping, keeping the wrong things out of the drains and keeping vehicles off the field lines make the difference.

Do septic additives work?

For a normal household they are not needed and they do not replace pumping. A healthy tank already has the bacteria it needs.

Why is my yard soggy over the field lines?

The tank may be overfull, or the field lines, the header line or a crossover line may be clogged or broken. We pump and check the system and tell you which it is.

Do I need a whole new system if mine is failing?

Usually not. Most problems are fixed with a pumping or a repair. We only recommend a new system when it is truly necessary.

What is a septic riser?

A collar that brings the tank opening up to ground level with a secure lid, so the tank can be pumped and inspected without digging.

Permits & service area

Who issues septic permits in our area?

The Jefferson County Department of Health for Bessemer, McCalla, Hueytown and the Jefferson County side of Hoover, and the Tuscaloosa County Health Department (Alabama Department of Public Health) for Brookwood, Vance and Tuscaloosa.

Do I need a perc test to build?

On a lot without sewer, yes – the health department needs a soil and site evaluation before it issues a septic permit. We dig the test pits and help you through the process.

Which towns do you serve?

Bessemer, McCalla, Hueytown, Hoover, Pleasant Grove, Lake View, Vance, Brookwood, Cottondale, Tuscaloosa and the communities in between.

Do you come to Tuscaloosa?

Yes. Tuscaloosa is down I-20/59 from our base in McCalla, and we serve homes, rentals and businesses on septic there.

Do you also do plumbing or heating and air?

Our sister companies do: Alabama Plumbing Services for plumbing and water heaters, and Alabama Heating & Air Services for heating and air conditioning.
