A new septic system is a big investment and it has to work for decades. Cutting corners on the installation leads to nothing but headaches down the road – so we do not. 1. Site and soil evaluation. Every new system starts with the soil. The county health department requires a soil and site evaluation (often called a perc test) before it issues a permit.
2. Permit. In Jefferson County the permit comes from the Jefferson County Department of Health, in Tuscaloosa County from the Tuscaloosa County Health Department. The permit sets the tank size and the type and length of the field lines.
3. Location. We work with you on the best spot: the layout of the property, setbacks from the house, wells, property lines and water, the soil and the landscaping.
4. Installation. We set the tank, lay the pipe from the house and install the field lines – pipe in gravel or chambers – exactly as permitted.
5. Inspection. The health department inspects the installation before it is covered.
6. Backfill and clean-up. We cover the system, grade the yard and leave the site clean. A riser at ground level can be added so future pumping needs no digging.

The right tank depends on the size of the household and the number of bedrooms – many homes here use a 1,000- to 1,500-gallon tank. Septic tanks come in concrete, fiberglass or plastic; the permit, the site and the soil decide what fits. One customer had a new 1,000-gallon tank installed within two days of calling us.

For a replacement we pump the old tank, remove it (or properly abandon it where allowed), install the new tank and connect it to new or repaired field lines. We dig only what is necessary and protect the rest of your yard. You get an upfront price for the whole job before we start.
